Tulsa Area Records 173 New Housing Starts in May

The Tulsa area recorded 173 new housing starts in May, bringing the year-to-date total to 1,050 homes across the region, according to data compiled by the Home Builders Association of Greater Tulsa.

While construction activity has moderated compared to the pace set in 2025, builders continue to add housing inventory across the region despite ongoing affordability challenges and elevated interest rates.

Broken Arrow continued to lead residential construction activity with 51 housing starts in May and 276 starts year-to-date. Tulsa followed with 35 starts in May and 152 starts year-to-date, while Coweta continued to see strong growth with 109 housing starts recorded through the first five months of the year.

The strongest areas of residential growth continue to reflect the region's expanding communities, where demand for new housing remains steady and builders are working to provide options for homebuyers across a range of price points and lifestyles.

"Increasing housing supply remains one of the most important tools available to support affordability and create opportunities for families throughout our region."
